Larry,
Your prayer this morning about being the palm of Gods Hand is so relevant for the trip to Guat. I hope and will pray that you feel and see his hand all week and that you will be the hand to those whom you serve. Remeber our favorite “For thou oh Lord, are a shield for me…” Sing it out if get a chance this week!
Blessings.

Comment by Mary Molegraaf June 18, 2008 @ 9:08 amI pray that your trip went well, I heard you had a delay in Houston – not good. I’m sure you have built up more muscle by carrying that serger all day.
I was with my brothers and sisters last night, and we had a really good time. I’ll tell you all about it later.
I’m leaving to pick up your parents soon. Mom has a cold, so she is hoping they will still do her knee surgery this afternoon. I’ll keep you posted.
Work hard, and have a great time with all of the kids- the Grandville kids, and the Guatemala kids, I know you will.
I miss you, but it will be very busy here. I’ll write tonight when I get home. Love, Mar
Larry, Well, you are off again being His hands and feet. Just love to see and hear your passion for service. God bless you and we will be praying for you. Take good care of BJ for us, and don’t let him step on anything icky….Carole P and Bob sends his prayers and greetings too….from chicago….

Comment by Melissa Braman June 18, 2008 @ 5:44 pmI hope you arrived safely and that you got enough sleep last night! Things here are good- but busy. Derek is putting fertilizer on our lawn as I type this- thanks for your input on what kind to get. Have a fun week- we will be checking the site and praying for you!
Love, Derek, Missy, Ava & Emmy
Hi Lar, I just came home from the hospital at 8pm. Your mom’s surgery went well, she is uncomfortable now. I’m hoping that she will rest easier after dad and I left. It’s been a day of many phone calls.
Comment by Mary Molegraaf June 18, 2008 @ 7:30 pmI’m praying for you, and miss you. I hope the first day went well, and I’m sure you will all sleep well tonight. Tell Carly and Holly that I talked to Ron Schuitema today, so we talked a little about the Guatemala experience. I have to call the kids yet.
Love, Mar
Hey Dad!
I like your picture! I hope you made it safe and enjoyed your first day, I am sure you all were tired. Be careful this week, I got nervous when I read you would be going to a remote village that is hard to get to, hopefully you will not face too many obstacles.
Comment by Melanie Kamminga June 18, 2008 @ 8:57 pmThe kids are doing good, Jack is walking all over the place. Addi wonders when Oma is going to get her old knee put back in. Funny.
Anyways, I am off to bed but you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
~Mel

Also praying that all of you in Guate are healthy & safe – I have to agree with Kristy’s post…no news is good news!
Have fun at Stucco Day tomorrow and I know that God is blessing you beyond belief.
I’m not much of a morning person but maybe I can get up early on Saturday & treat Mary to a Panera breakfast
God bless, brother!

Comment by kirk June 19, 2008 @ 6:35 pmi just read the e-mail from dan & heidi. without the internet isn’t a bad thing…waves of prayer are making the way down there all the time.
i’m on powerpoint Sunday morning…since brenda isn’t here, i just might have to insert “Days of Elijah” somewhere in the service. you can count on me. also…i drove by bassman’s house tonight and at least he wasn’t in the garden with no shirt.
GOD BLESS!

Comment by Mary Molegraaf June 19, 2008 @ 8:35 pmYour mom is doing OK. Her knee is painful, and the main meds make her sleep all day, but she wants to get busy and go to therapy tomorrow. They have not said when she will be discharged yet, or anything about in-patient rehab.
I hope you can all feel the prayers from here, even if you can’t read the notes.Stay healthy and safe, sleep well. I’ll be praying tomorrow afternoon during dedication time. Love, Mar

Hi Grandpa,
Hug Me! Give me a special treat.

(Those were Addi’s exact words when I asked her what she wanted to say to you, I wonder what that special treat thing is all about???? =) )
Comment by Melanie Kamminga June 20, 2008 @ 9:25 amLar, I just finished some yard work, it’s beautiful weather here, I hope yours is so nice. I just talked to mom again, I was there this noon, and drove dad home at about 2:00.She will move to Metro tomorrow morning, then probably your dad will be able to drive there on his own. He will like that, he can come and go more easily.
Comment by Mary Molegraaf June 20, 2008 @ 7:56 pmHow are things going? There are tons of prayers being lifted up for you, we hope you can tell. We’re all anxious to hear your stories.
I’ll post a few more notes, that will be all for tonight. I’ll check again tomorrow to see of your server has been fixed. Enjoy the medical clinics! Love, Mar
Hi Dad,
Comment by Melissa Braman June 20, 2008 @ 9:47 pmI hope things are going good for you- I am sure they are, but it is hard not to get updates! Tonight was a busy one- Kurt and Derek played golf and Mel and I had the kids. We went for a walk- but Addi wanted to “ditch” her bike half way through the walk. Then Ava decided she wanted to ride the bike, even though she doesn’t know how. Then Jack wanted out of the stroller…Anyway, we are thinking about you and praying for you. Stay safe! Tomorrow Mindy, Mel and I are going to visit Grandma.
Have a good night!
Love,
Missy

Comment by jim d v June 20, 2008 @ 9:50 pmGood Morning, Lar. I’m going to Panera without you-I’ll miss you. I will go right from there to get mom packed at Spectrum, then go to Metro to help her get settled there. I’ll visit Trudy this afternoon, then babysit for Ava and Emmy tonight.
Comment by Mary Molegraaf June 21, 2008 @ 7:43 amI hope your day goes well. I read Kristie’s note about Kevin calling last night. It was good to hear his updates, and it sounds like things went well in the village. I’ll kep watching for postings, but I know it probably won’t happen.
I love you. Mar
Larry:
It was good to get Kristy’s update from Kevin and hear all about what you and the team are doing in Guatemala. It’s hard not to be able to read the stories and see the pictures as in year’s past, but it is making all of us back home in Grandville trust God more–and not just trust the computers and internet!!! Seriously! In the past we have come to rely on technology so much, it has made us rely less on God (personally, I think). One thing is, we KNOW God is in control and has a reason for this. Let’s just focus on Him and trust Him do His work. How exciting for you to be such a big part of it in Guatemala with people He loves so much. Know that you are in our prayers.
God bless you,
The Dooleys
Psalm 13:5
Comment by Lynette Dooley June 21, 2008 @ 9:02 amBut I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salavation.
Senor Lar Hope all is well with you. Been praying for you and the team. Tonight is one of my favorite parts of this trip. Watching those Guat people come foward, weeping on there hands and knees to give there life to CHRIST is something i will never erase from my mind. Back home people just dont do that, maybe were just to blessed that we dont realize the importance of having a TRUE relationship with CHRIST. I sooooooooooo wish i was there with you and to even get a look at Chad and how i pray GOD with touch his heart like he did to mine. How true is it that we have NOTHING without GOD, i cant even type that without tears running down my face, but those tears are all of the joy in my heart because i know i have that relationship in CHRIST. Thanks for going on this trip, you once again are an insperation to me in the way you just glow with your love for JESUS CHRIST. LOVE YA SENOR AL p.s. Give Chad and Dan a huge for me. tell them i love them.
Comment by Alan Jurgens June 21, 2008 @ 7:53 pmHi Dad!
Comment by Mindy Harris June 21, 2008 @ 9:09 pmI just finished reading the updates of all the work that’s been done so far and it sounds like even though you were delayed to start, you’re well on your way now! I hope you’re feeling OK and getting enough sleep and your earplugs are doing their job. =)
Miss, Mel, Addi, and I went to vist Grandma today. She looked really good. She was still in a little bit of pain but still cracked a joke or two. Luckily, Grandma and Grandpa noticed the Dr.’s name was Dutch (Bruinsma) and then began to talk about the Netherlands, so that definitely took their minds off of being nervous. (Speaking of the Netherlands- their soccer team lost to Russia today, 3-1.)
Although you’re not here, I’m close to you in spirit- especially since I’m driving your truck!! Sean’s still working on my car so I’m using yours- I didn’t think you would mind.
Sean and I are praying for you and the team every day. We know you’re in your element and we admire you for what you’re doing! We miss you and love you!
Hi Larry,
You have no idea what a blessing you are to me and to Kevin. Thank you for your willingness to serve and lead others to Christ. Thank you for your quiet servant heart that loves so deeply. You are making a lasting impact on all who come to know you. May God continue to bless you and the team as you share Christ’s love. In His Grip!

Good Morning, Lar,
Comment by Mary Molegraaf June 22, 2008 @ 9:03 amIt’s a beautiful sunny morning here. I went for a walk early, and now will go to be in the church nursery, I think Jackson will be there, but not Emmy. Your dad wants to pick me up after church to go to Metro to see mom. It will be good for him to practice driving there, so he can do it this week when the rest of us have to go to work.
I’m praying for you at the clinics, and that tons of people will give their lives to Christ.
Have a great Sunday. Love, Mar
Lar, the sun went away during church this morning. Iwas in infant nursery, so Jack came in with me, then Addia adn Ava came in there, too. Until The bigeer kids were ready to go to the playground, then they went along. Jordan and Megan Canan were in the nursery with me, so we talked about the Guatemala trip. It sounds like it’s going well. It’s so nice to see pictures today, you look healthy, that’s great!
Comment by Mary Molegraaf June 22, 2008 @ 1:33 pmYour dad picked me up right after church, we went to see mom at Metro. She was in a wheelchair, had therapy this morning, and looks really good. Marc and Sarah were three too, then Pete and Linda came, so the room was full. Dad and I had lunch in the cafeteria there – a good Sunday dinner.
Tomorrow is dad’s birthday – 87 – so we will go to Brann’s together.
I hope your travel goes well today, and that the time at the clinic will be as good as last night.
Have a good day tomorrow. I heard that one of the vans needs brakes. I have the feeling that if the parts are available you will prefer to stay at the mission and put new brakes on the van instead of going to the market. We’ll see.
I’ll write again tomorrow night, after work and visiting your mom, and dinner with your dad.
I love you, and am anxious for you to be home again. Love, Mar
Hi Dad,
Comment by Melanie Kamminga June 22, 2008 @ 3:59 pmI thought I would write to say hello. Things are nice here today, the weather cleared up and it is a nice day. I am enjoying the peace and quiet as the kids nap and Kurt is golfing. Do you remember what we were doing 7 yrs. ago today? I’ll remind you, you were walking me down the aisle at church. That is right, it is our anniversary, I cannot believe it has been that long! Well, it was nice to finally read an update on the team. I hope you are doing well and staying healthy. Mom has been staying super busy since you left and she has been a huge help to Grandma & Grandpa, they are really thankful to have her. Anyways, we are excited to see you when you get home, we can have cake for Me and Missy’s birthday!
Love,
Mel

Comment by kirk June 22, 2008 @ 4:06 pmi asked shari ilbrink and mark vanharmelen play “days of elijah” for you this morning as the postlude. they were awesome and we were thinking of you.

I pray that you are all safe & healthy and can’t wait to buy you breakfast at Panera and hear many stories.
Many blessings for your last couple of days,

Hi Dad!
Comment by Mindy Harris June 23, 2008 @ 10:49 amI can see from the pictures that along with your work you found some time to have fun, too! I’m sure the kids in Guatemala appreciated your jump-rope expertise!
I’m hoping to go see Grandma today or tomorrow so I’ll update her on your progress- although Grandpa’s so computer savvy, he may beat me to it.
Your truck is running well and it’s been a huge help for Sean and I- thanks again!
We hope you enjoy your last couple of days in Guatemala. We miss you and we’ll see you soon!
